The Columbia Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday at an apartment complex on North Beltline Boulevard in Columbia, officials say.
Investigators do not have an exact time as to when the shooting occurred but say a man who had been shot in both legs was dropped off at an area hospital prior to 7 p.m., department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.
The shooting is believed to have occurred in the 3000 block of North Beltline near Covenant Road in northeast Columbia, Timmons said. When police arrived on the scene the man was gone.
In addition, two people who arrived at the hospital after the incident are being detained, she said.
Never miss a local story.
It is not certain if the two drove the man, who has not been identified, to the hospital. The man’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening, Timmons said.
The department is continuing to investigate.
