Lexington County authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying one or multiple suspects involved in a fatal shooting that left one man dead Friday evening.
Maj. John Allard, a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said Roy Chris Cooper Sr., 59, was shot and killed near his home located in a mobile home park on the 3100 block of Greenwood Drive off Main Street.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Cooper died from a gunshot wound to the upper body and has ruled his death a homicide.
Allard said in a press release that a citizen reported the shooting to the sheriff’s department. Sheriff’s deputies then located Cooper near his home lying on his back on the ground.

The circumstances of the fatal shooting and the motive for the shooting remain under investigation, according to Allard.
