Columbia police have arrested a man who fatally stabbed his brother after an argument broke out between them early Sunday morning, according to police officials.
Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said Isaac Williams, 43, has been charged with murder in connection with the incident.
Holbrook said Williams is accused of stabbing the victim identified by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts as Daryl Williams, 41, of Columbia.
Daryl Williams, who was later identified as Isaac Williams’ brother by police department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons, was stabbed in the chest area after an argument broke out between the two at 1 a.m. at a residence located in the North Pointe Estates located at 100 Ripplemeyer Avenue off Colony Forest Drive.
Holbrook said a witness told officers he helped the victim after he fell to the ground and then called 911. Emergency response units transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting Columbia police with the investigation.
Isaac Williams was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
