Lexington police are warning residents not to put mail with money orders, gift cards or checks in their own mailboxes for pickup after a series of recent mail thefts in the Woodcreek subdivisdion and subsequent check frauds.
Police chief Terrence Green released photographs of two suspect vehicles and a man thought inolved in the thefts which occured between 8am and 10 am on December 1 and 2 from “from numerous mailboxes that had their flags raised for pick-up.”
The Woodcreek subdivision is located on or near Stoneridge Drive between US 1 and US 378 in Lerxington.
To avoid such thefts, police urged residents to place letters with money orders, checks of gift cards in a secured US Postal Service collection box.
