Richland County authorities have arrested a man they believe broke into a Blythewood home Wednesday.
Franklin Robinson, 23, of Goodwin Way is charged with burglary, grand larceny, fail to stop for blue lights and sirens and filing a false police report. He is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center pending bond.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said that the tag and vehicle description given by the resident helped investigators to identify Robinson.
Investigators believe the suspect brok into a home on Rushing Road at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Deputies responded after a resident reported a seeing a suspicious vehicle and a possible break-in.
Officers later spotted the vehicle. Following a brief chase, the driver wrecked the vehicle and fled. A flat screen television that police say was taken from the home was left behind.
Reports indicate the suspect later reported his car stolen from Air Base Road.
Lott credits citizen involvement for the arrest.
