A Sumter County woman faces charges after a 6-year-old relative was attacked by dogs near a school bus stop earlier this week.
Geraldine Knox, 55, of Mingo Knox Road in Dalzell, is charged with six counts of allowing an animal to run at large and six counts of failure to innoculate for rabies.
Officers believe the dogs involved in the attack had been cared for by Knox.
It is unclear how Knox is related to the child, Kenyea Smith, also of Dalzell. Reports indicate Smith was attacked by about six dogs as she was walking away from a school bus stop Monday afternoon. She remains in a Columbia hospital, but is expected to recover from her injuries.
