Authorities are investigating the death of a West Columbia teenager who died in a one-car accident Sunday night Aug. 30 on an Interstate 26 access ramp.
Blake C. Tuggle, 18, was killed after his 1991 Honda slid off the wet highway, crashed into the woods and struck two trees about 9:50 p.m., according to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office. Tuggle lost control of the car and died at the scene, the coroner’s office said. The coroner’s office said Tuggle was alone in the car, which was traveling at a high speed. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Both the coroner’s office and the S.C. Highway Patrol are investigating.
