IVA - At least two people have died in a plane crash in Abbeville County.
Lt. Robert McCullough of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources said a single-engine plane crashed on Lake Russell around 11 a.m. McCullough said he did not know how many people may have been aboard the plane at the time of the crash.
Investigators said the plane had taken off from Maryville, Tenn.
McCullough said the plane crashed into about 10 feet of water. About 30 to 40 gallons of fuel spilled at the crash site, but firefighters say the spill was confined to the cove in that area.
