An inmate who died of strangulation Saturday at the Richland County jail most likely committed suicide, officials said Monday.
However, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts stressed that an investigation is continuing and no final determination has been made.
The inmate, Olin Taylor II, was found dead in his cell, Watts said. Shoelaces had been used to cut off his breathing, he said. Taylor had been arrested Friday for driving under the influence and assault and battery with intent to kill.
