A 22-year-old Anderson man pled guilty in a Spartanburg federal court this week for possession of child pornography.
Kevin Cortez Holbrooks is facing a fine of $250,000 and imprisonment for 10 years. A sentence will be imposed after U.S. District Judge Henry F. Floyd reviews a pre-sentence report prepared by the U.S. Probation Office.
According to a press release, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, in Feb. 2009, conducted an investigation into peer-to-peer computer networks sharing child pornography. Agents reportedly downloaded a number of computer files shared by Holbrooks that showed children engaging in sexually explicit poses and conduct. When confronted by law enforcement, Holbrooks admitted to using peer-to-peer networks to download child pornography. An examination of Holbrooks’ computer showed he also possessed several child pornography videos.
The case was investigated by agents from SLED and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
