An Elgin man was sentenced Friday to 48 months in prison and supervised release for life on possession of child pornography charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
As part of the sentence, Jeff Galardo, 28, also will be on supervised release for life after his release from prison and will be required to register as a sex offender in any state where he lives, works or attends school, the office said.
According to the U.S. Attorney, the case was developed out of Operation Flicker, a national child pornography investigation conducted by federal law enforcement. Galardo admitted in September 2008 to downloading child pornography from the Internet. A search of Galardo’s computer revealed numerous movie files with such pornography.
