By a 99-1 vote, S.C. House members have agreed to ban camera-issued speeding tickets.
The Senate already has approved the measure, aimed at the town of Ridgeland in Jasper County, which uses cameras to catch speeders on Interstate 95.
Lawmakers have accused the town of violating a state law that bars tickets based only on photographic evidence. Town officials have said they are not breaking the law because a law enforcement officer monitors the camera system.
After one more vote procedural vote in the House, the bill goes to Gov. Nikki Haley for her veto or approval.
