The West Columbia Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that happened Tuesday on 9th Street.
According to Chief Dennis Tyndall, the victim was walking with a friend southbound in the 300 block of 9th Street around 3 p.m. when a car pulled alongside heading in the opposite direction. The vehicle is described as a dark colored vehicle, possibly a Dodge Neon.
The driver pointed a handgun out of the window and fired one shot, which struck the victim in the groin area. The victim was transported to Lexington Medical Center where he was treated and released.
