A suspected drug dealer fired Tuesday at FBI agents who were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on him.
The agents were able to capture the suspect without returning fire, the U.S. Attorney’s office reported. The suspect was one of 19 people arrested Tuesday for alleged participation in a large-scale drug trafficking conspiracy. They are accused of selling cocaine and crack.
The arrests are the result of indictments handed down in August by a federal grand jury. Nine federal, state and local agencies, including the Lexington and Richland counties sheriff’s departments and the S.C. National Guard, participated.
The 19 arrested will appear in U.S. District Court at 10 this morning.
