A 31-year-old woman convicted of stealing from the S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon will repay the money and spend 33 months in federal prison.
Crystal Dawn Bric of Camden was sentenced Tuesday on one count of bank fraud by U.S. District Judge Cameron M. Currie. Bric will repay the government $328,798 for stealing the money out of a Wachovia bank account owned by the probation department, the U.S. Attorney’s office reported.
In 2007, Bric was on probation and housed in a restitution center in Columbia when she used the account and routing numbers from a probation department check to pay her rent, utilities and cell phone bills. She also used her friends’ Social Security numbers to open credit card accounts and then paid the bills using the Wachovia account numbers.
