A Lexington County man was charged with second-degree assault and battery and disorderly conduct after allegedly threatening a Chapin man who refused his sexual advances. Samuel Blake Sroufe, 48, was arrested July 8 while trying to hide from deputies in woods near the alleged attack. The 51-year-old victim told deputies he refused to engage in a sex act with a man who then threatened him with a crowbar, according to a police report. The victim told police he is a man who dresses and lives as a woman, the report said. He told investigators his attacker had drawn a finger across his throat while brandishing a crowbar, then chased him while waving the weapon. When the attacker realized that the victim was on the phone with 911, he dropped the crowbar and ran into nearby woods, the report stated. Sroufe was being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on Friday on a bond of $25,262.
