Two men face charges in connection with a home break-in.

Wayne Heriot, 18, and Alexander Hollins, 22, were charged with burglary, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday.

While on patrol in the Heron Ridge community around noon Feb. 19, a deputy saw an unoccupied vehicle in a vacant area of the subdivision, according to a news release. The deputy then saw an open back door at a resident in the 500 block of Heron Drive.

The deputy returned to the vehicle and found one of the suspects behind the wheel and another running from the woods toward the vehicle, the release said. Both suspects fled on foot but were caught a short distance away.

Items from the residence, including two televisions and a bag of electronic items, were found bundled at the front door just inside the home.

Heriot and Hollins were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
