A woman willing to help a man get fuel for his car that he said his pregnant wife was sitting in was robbed of $86 in cash Friday afternoon.
Police responded shortly after 3 p.m. to the 300 block of North Kings Highway where a woman said she was carrying $88 in cash in her hand while she came out of a store in the area, according to a police report. A white man, about 6 foot tall, dark hair, clean shaven and a thin build, walked up to her and said his pregnant wife was waiting in their car and asked is she could give them money for gas, the report states. When she began unfolding the money, the man grabbed it so forcefully that the woman fell to the ground, according to the report.
The man grabbed all but $2 of the cash in her hand.
The man fled across Kings Highway and ran up 4th Avenue North, heading toward the beach, police state.
