One student was taken to an area hospital for treatment while another was arrested and charged following a fight on a Richland One school bus Tuesday.
Teasia Young, 19, was charged with simple assault, according to the Columbia Police Department.
A 14-year-old student was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has been released.
The incident occurred at 8:15 a.m. on the 4800 block of Garners Ferry Road, near Wildcat Road – the stretch between Rosewood Drive and Fort Jackson Boulevard – according to police.

The bus was transporting students from Lower Richland High School to Heyward Career & Technology Center, according to Karen York, director of the office of communications for Richland District One schools.
Young allegedly physically assaulted the 14-year-old girl on the bus, according to the police, who added she was taken to Alvin S. Glen Detention Center.
In addition to the criminal charges, York said the school will investigate the incident and will determine if disciplinary actions are warranted.
The cause of the fight and the extent of the injuries have not been released.
