Anderson County sheriff’s deputies are questioning some details they’ve been given about a 1-year-old girl who has been missing for nearly a week.
Sheriff’s Lt. Sheila Cole told local media that at least two details they were given about Leaona Cheyanne Wright of Pendleton are probably wrong.
Cole says investigators do not think that a 3-year-old girl opened the door to allow Leona to crawl outside. Cole says investigators also think the girl was not there when her mother arrived at the home at 5:30 a.m. June 6.
Deputies have interviewed the mother, her boyfriend and their neighbors, friends and family members.
Crime Stoppers of Anderson has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.
Cole says investigators are still hopeful of finding Leaona alive and well.
