Richland County authorities arrested 16-year-old Darrell Tucker on Tuesday in connection to a phoned-in bomb threat that emptied the Olympia Learning Center on Bluff Road earlier in the day.
The Richland 1 alternative high school was evacuated after the 12:30 p.m. bomb threat was received but no bomb was found in a search of the school, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.
Though technically a juvenile, Tucker was charged as an adult.
Located at 621 Bluff Road, The Olympia Learning Center is billed as an alternative school for students from the 6th through 12th grades who prefer “a non-traditional, innovative and personal school setting.”
Tucker was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Tuesday afternoon.
