Columbia police have charged 2 adults and 2 juveniles in the shooting last week in the parking lot of the Walmart on Garners Ferry Road, police chief Skip Holbrook said in a news release.
The investigation suggests the shooting stemmed from an earlier disagreement between the 4 suspects and the victim, who was shot in the midsection and taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
Vernon Lee Hayes, III, 21, Quinton Xzavier Foster, 19, and the two unnamed 16-year-old juveniles were charged with attempted murder. Hayes and one of the juveniles also were charged with possession of a weapon during commission of a violence crime.
The two juveniles and Foster were released on bond. Hayes was denied bond and was being held at the Alvn S. Glenn Detention Center Tuesday night.
