Two former law enforcement officers in Lexington County were charged after a set of golf clubs were reported stolen in February from a shed in Lexington.
Willie Herman Womble, 36, was charged with misconduct in office. Jesse Gregg Moore, 27, was charged with petit larceny of $2,000 or less, a misdemeanor, the State Law Enforcement Division said in a news release. Both also have lost their jobs.
Womble was fired on May 24 by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department after a nearly 15-year career there, said Adam Myrick of the sheriff’s department.
Moore had been employed by the Columbia Metropolitan Airport department of public safety.

Charges against the two former law enforcement officers followed a SLED investigation of a complaint by the property’s owner.
After conducting a court-ordered eviction at a home, Womble instructed Moore “to remove items related to the eviction process,” the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
Moore took a set of Lynx golf clubs, a Bridgestone golf bag and a driver from a shed on the property at 106 Mill St., the arrest warrant stated.
The two men were booked at the Lexington County Detention Center on Wednesday and released on their own recognizance.
