Richland 2 officials beefed up security Friday in the wake of an alleged threat at Richland Northeast High School.
Administrators learned Thursday a student was considering an attempt to do something Friday, but an investigation turned up no credible evidence, said Richland 2 spokeswoman Libby Roof.
“Yesterday, the administration got a report that there may be an incident today,” she said. “They determined that there was really no credible evidence or any indication that anything was going to happen today.”
She said the district placed extra security and extra school-resource officers on the Brookfield Road campus.
Principal Sabrina Suber notified the school community through email and voice communication, assuring parents that no incident took place.
