Robert Gantt, vice chairman of Lexington-Richland 5’s board, was elected last week as president of the S.C. School Boards Association.
Gantt has served on the school board 14 years, but has contributed his time as a parent and volunteer for 30 years. He is known as the “Voice of the Silver Foxes” at Dutch Fork High School.
Other officers elected include president-elect Kathy Coleman, Saluda County Schools; vice president Queenie Boyd, Lee County Schools; treasurer John Wesley Hightower, Aiken County Schools; and secretary, Tony Folk, Dorchester Schools.
Delegates from most of the state’s 81 school boards endorsed officers for 2015 and adopted resolutions for the upcoming legislative session.
