Three educational institutions were among those recognized with Columbia Choice Awards for landscaping and beautification this year.

The awards, announced Thursday, went to Columbia International University, Heathwood Hall Xeric Garden and the University of South Carolina’s Gamecock Park. Also receiving accolades were the Gordon Belser Arboretum and St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

The Columbia Choice Awards are given by Columbia Green and the city’s forestry and beautification division to recognize individuals, neighborhoods, schools and organizations who enhance the appearance and quality of life in Columbia, according to a news release.
