The new top senior enlisted officer for the U.S. Army Central and the 3rd Army will take the reins next week at Shaw Air Force Base.
Command Sgt. Maj. Ronnie Kelley will take over from Command Sgt. Maj. Stephen Frennier, who is retiring after 33 years in the Army.
Kelley comes to the post Fort Bliss, Texas, where he served as the command sergeant major for the 1st Armored Division. The headquarters for the U.S. Army Central and the 3rd Army transferred to Shaw from Georgia in 2011.
Kelley is a native of Bryan, Texas, and is a 28-year Army veteran. His career includes three tours in Iraq. He has been assigned to Bosnia, Germany, South Korea and throughout the United States. His awards include four Bronze Stars.
The change of responsibility ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Patton Hall's Lucky Park. Lt. Gen. James L. Terry, USARCENT commanding general, will officiate the ceremony and will exchange the USARCENT colors with the outgoing command sergeant major and the incoming command sergeant major.
