Fort Jackson’s commanding general, Bradley A. Becker, on Friday was promoted to major general, also known as a two-star general, from the rank of brigadier general.

The ceremony was held on Victory Field.

Becker’s new ranking is the third highest from the top position in the Army.

There are 99 major generals on active duty in the U.S. Army. Fewer than one-half percent of commissioned officers make it to the top three ranks, according to an Army press release.
