Maj. Gen. Bradley Becker is inviting the public to a special, up-close tour of Fort Jackson at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 7.

Becker, Fort Jackson's commanding general, will host a seven-hour "Come See Your Army" event to give the public an opportunity to see how soldiers train and provide insight into the fort’s day-to-day operations.

During the tour, visitors will see soldiers train, attend basic combat training graduation, shoot an M16A2 rifle in a simulator and eat in an Army dining facility.

The tour is open to people ages 13 and older. Reservations are required by July 29. The tour is free, but lunch costs $4.65 per person.

For more information or to register, call Fort Jackson Community Relations at (803) 751-1474.
