U.S. Sen. Tim Scott on Saturday hosted a special ceremony to honor South Carolina military veterans from the Vietnam era.
The event was held at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church on Hampton Street in Columbia.
Medal of Honor recipient and retired Marine Corps Maj. Gen. James Everett Livingston delivered the keynote address.
Scott is presenting each veteran a special Senatorial Certificate of Appreciation and a pin. He says the veterans need to be honored for their commitment to the nation's freedom, and the sacrifices of their families should be noted as well.
Scott held honor ceremonies for South Carolina's World War II veterans in 2012 and also held two ceremonies last year for Korean War era veterans.
