Fort Lee Army base has given the all-clear following an active shooter incident Monday morning on the base, according to base officials.
A news release issued by Fort Lee officials said first responders were alerted to a report of a female soldier with a gun inside the Combined Arms Support Command Headquarters, building 5020, about 9 a.m.
The base was put on lockdown after reports of an armed suspect seen at the base.
The news release said the soldier injured herself after turning the weapon on herself and firing one shot. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment; her condition was unknown mid-morning Monday.
The incident was cleared at 9:50 a.m. following the initial report, according to the base’s Twitter feed.
U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command agents are investigating.
