A large-scale, joint Army and Air National Guard exercise originating from McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Lower Richland will take place Friday and Saturday with a high amount of helicopter and fighter jet traffic.
This training may mean residents in the central South Carolina counties of Richland, Lexington, Aiken and Barnwell may see and hear F-16 fighter jets, as well as AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
During the exercise, the takeoffs and landings will be during daylight hours.
“We are sensitive to the concerns of our neighbors and have taken every measure to reduce the amount of noise generated from our flying operations,” said Maj. Gen. Robert E. Livingston Jr., S.C. adjutant general. “We appreciate the understanding and support of the surrounding community during this essential training for our soldiers and airmen.”
