Monday: Focus on real abuses of flag

Every day schools, businesses and governments fly Old Glory, faded, tattered and torn. Yet it takes a school teacher’s misguided attempt to prove a point to create public outrage.

Every day schools, businesses and governments fly Old Glory, faded, tattered and torn. Yet it takes a school teacher’s misguided attempt to prove a point to create public outrage.

Perhaps the patriotic community should look up instead. They will be appalled at the number of flags flying in disrespect up and down our streets. It is against the law to fly the flag in such condition. It is against the law to fly it as an advertisement.

Stop and demand those flags be taken down until a replacement is secured.

Scott Compton made a poor choice in exercising his right to free speech in a classroom, but not one he should be fired for. These establishments should be the ones paying a price.
