A Koch brothers-backed political group and a foundation with the same name officially have taken root in South Carolina.
Tax reform and school choice are Americans for Prosperity’s top two priorities, said Dave Schwartz, S.C. state director for the group and its foundation.
Americans for Prosperity opened its state headquarters in Greenville on Monday, the group’s first permanent installation in the state.
The group hired Vanessa Cox, former director of membership and events for the S.C. House Republican Caucus, to run its state policy shop.
Before coming to work for House Republicans in 2013, Cox was legislative assistant for energy issues for U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C.. She also worked for two S.C. House committees from 2008-’10.
