U.S. Rep. John Larson, D-Conn., will be the keynote speaker at the Galivants Ferry Stump Speaking on Monday, a Democratic tradition that dates back more than a century.
Honored during the event will be U.S. Rep. James Clyburn, D- Columbia, and U.S. Rep. John Spratt, D-York.
The 2010 stump will be held at Pee Dee Farms, a century-old general store near the Little Pee Dee River in Horry County.
The Galivants Ferry Stump has been held for more than 134 years, but the oldest announcement the Holliday family has for the event is from an 1876 newspaper. It is the oldest consistently running event of its kind in the nation.
