Former S.C. Republican Party chairman Katon Dawson has recorded a video supporting Treasurer Converse Chellis’ re-election campaign.
Chellis "came to office in a time of crisis, he restored integrity, character," Dawson said, referring to Chellis replacing Thomas Ravenel, who served prison time for cocaine use. "We can’t at this point make a risky choice. Our state finances hang in the balance.
"We cannot afford, as Republicans, to put someone in office who is untested, unproven and unqualified."
Chellis is running against West Columbia businessman Curtis Loftis in the June 8 primary.
