Christian Coalition of America president Roberta Combs, a Hanahan native, has endorsed state Attorney General Henry McMaster is his bid to win the Republican nomination for governor.
“With liberals consolidating power and attempting to marginalize Christians and conservatives alike, it’s more important than ever for South Carolina to elect a conservative governor who will stand up for our traditional values. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Henry McMaster. I know he will be a pro-life, pro-family governor," Combs said.
McMaster is one of four Republicans seeking the party’s gubernatorial nomination. U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer and Lexington Rep. Nikki Haley are also seeking the GOP nomination.
Barrett releases jobs ad
U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, a Republican candidate for governor, has released a new television ad focused on jobs. Barrett, of Westminster, is locked in a four-way race for the Republican nomination for governor.
In the ad, he talks about creating the conditions for job growth in a state where the unemployment rate is 12 percent. He touts tort reform, tax cuts and offshore drilling.
“If we’re going to change South Carolina, if we’re going to change the dynamics in this state, we do it through the private sector by empowering people, not government.”
Voters will go to the polls June 8 to select the Republican and Democratic nominees for governor. Barrett faces Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, Lexington Rep. Nikki Haley and S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster.
