S.C. Treasurer Loftis undergoing tests in hospital
South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis is undergoing tests in the hospital after suffering chest pains.
Loftis’ chief of staff Bill Leidinger said the 53-year-old Republican woke up early Monday with pain coming from his chest into his arm and went to the hospital after talking to his doctors. He was undergoing tests Tuesday, and his staff said he was positive and upbeat. Loftis hopes to be released from the hospital soon.
Loftis ran a pest control business before he was elected treasurer in 2010. It was his first elected office. Leidinger said Loftis appreciates all the prayers and good wishes sent to him during his hospital stay.
