The Governor’s Mansion will hold its annual open house for the holidays from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday. The residence of Gov. Nikki Haley and her family, built in 1855, is readied for Christmas in the finest of ways.
Members of the Columbia Garden Club take on the task of bringing holiday cheer to the mansion. Members of the S.C. Christmas Tree Growers Association provided five Christmas trees. Members of the Future Farmers of America from Lexington Technology Center presented poinsettias.
The garden club has been decorating the mansion since 1981.
Entering the mansion, visitors will see touches of South Carolina. The wreath is made of Little Gem Magnolia leaves. The holiday trees are decorated with homemade ornaments made of sand dollars, photos of significant Palmetto State landmarks, and Christmas cards.
