Amanda Loveday, the executive director of the S.C. Democratic Party, is leaving to become U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn's spokesman.
Loveday confirmed the news to The State after it was first reported by the Charleston City Paper.
"I am honored to join the office of Congressman Jim Clyburn. He is a historical figure both in South Carolina and nationwide," Loveday said. "I am looking forward to continuing my efforts to help Democrats in South Carolina."
Loveday is replacing Hope Derrick, Clyburn's longtime spokeswoman who took a job with USC in November .
Loveday has been executive director of the state Democratic Party since 2011. She was hired by former state chairman Dick Harpootlian and stayed on after chairman Jaime Harrison was elected in 2012.
Loveday said she plans to stay at the Democratic Party until they can find a replacement.
