COLUMBIA -- A nonprofit run by Sheri Few, a Republican candidate for S.C. Superintendent of Education, is holding rallies across the state in opposition to Common Core education standards.
The group will rally in Columbia Tuesday at noon at the S.C. Department of Education, 1429 Senate Street, and then at noon Wednesday at the S.C. State House to show support for a bill that would roll back the Common Core standards in South Carolina, voiding their 2010 adoption.
A Senate committee meets Wednesday to consider the bill, sponsored by state Sen. Lee Bright, R-Spartanburg, one of five challengers to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham in June's primary.
Few's group started their rallies Friday in Myrtle Beach and had events planned in Beaufort, Rock Hill, Greenville, Aiken, Charleston and Columbia.
