ELECTION 2014: Lindsey Graham ad touts foreign policy chops in "dangerous world"

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham touts his foreign policy chops in his newest radio and television ads warning of a "dangerous world."

The six-figure ad buy aired statewide starting this weekend, during college basketball tournaments. The 30-second television and one-minute radio ad are Graham’s third round of statewide ad buys in his re-election campaign.

The ads feature dark, orchestral music, warn of peril and danger abroad, and tout Graham as an opponent of President Barack Obama's foreign policy.

The TV ad says, "In a dangerous world where the only guarantee of peace is strength, Lindsey Graham stands strong."

The radio ad says, "It's a dangerous world. Across the world, America's security is in peril. But in the struggle against radical Islam, South Carolina has a conservative leader who knows what it takes to protect our nation."

Graham follows: "The world is never in a better place when you have a weak indecisive American president. Russia is a symptom of that weakness, and again it started with Benghazi. When you kill Americans and nobody pays a price, you invite this type of aggression."

The ad says that President George W. Bush, who donated $5,000 to Graham's campaign, called the senator “one of the true stalwarts of freedom.”

Several GOP challengers have announced plans to run against Graham: Columbia pastor Det Bowers, state Sen. Lee Bright, R-Spartanburg, Easley businessman Richard Cash, Orangeburg attorney and Afghanistan war veteran Bill Connor, Columbia attorney Benjamin Dunn, Spartanburg cop Dave Feliciano, and Charleston PR executive Nancy Mace.

Filing for the race opened Sunday.
