S.C. House Democrats have announced a push for to win four more seats and bring their total up to 50 after the November election.

The caucus' "Fight for 50" campaign will raise money to assist Democratic House candidates across the state.

"Thanks to Gov. Haley and her extremist allies in the legislature, voters are fed up with the lack of leadership they've seen from the Tea Party majority in South Carolina," House Minority Leader Rep. Todd Rutherford, R-Richland, said.

Rutherford mentioned some "opportunities for moderate, pragmatic Democrats" against first-term Republicans including:

• Tombo Hite, who challenges Craig Gagnon in Abbeville.

&bull Joe McCulloch, who lost to Kirkman Finlay by 308 votes in Columbia in 2012.

• Former Rep. Vida Miller in Pawleys Island, who lost the seat in 2010 and faces Stephen Goldfinch.

&bull Marian Redish, who meets Samuel Rivers Jr. in Berkeley County

The campaign kicks off Thursday at a fundraiser with former Gov. Dick Riley in Greenville.

Republicans hold a 78-46 edge in the House and a 28-18 majority in the S.C. Senate.

Nine House incumbents are not running this year -- five Republicans and four Democrats.
