Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a senior adviser to a political-action group pushing for Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016, will headline the Charleston County Democratic Party's Blue Jamboree rally this month.
Clinton, a former U.S. Secretary of State, has not decided if she will run for the White House. She finished a distant second to then-U.S. Sen. Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary in South Carolina.
The political group trying to draft the former First Lady, Ready for Hillary, has held several events around South Carolina, which is the first state in the South to hold a presidential primary.
Granholm joined the Ready for Hillary effort more than a year ago and has helped with fundraising.
At the Blue Jamboree on Sept. 25 at the Jenkins Institute For Children in North Charleston, other top Democrats running for statewide office in November also are scheduled to speak. They include governor challenger state Sen. Vincent Sheheen and lieutenant governor candidate state Rep. Bakari Sellers.
Tickets cost $10 with sponsorships going for $100 and $250.
