Former S.C. Republican First Lady Jenny Sanford appears in a new web campaign video for Democratic Secretary of State nominee Ginny Deerin where they chat about issues over "Mark."
The "Mark" is not Sanford's ex-husband, U.S. Rep. and former Gov. Mark Sanford, but Deerin's foe -- current Republican Secretary of State Mark Hammond.
Winning Jenny Sanford's support adds to Deerin's endorsements from groups that typically back Republicans -- including the state chapter of the Club for Growth.
The 98-second video features Sanford and Deerin chatting in a kitchen the problems with "Mark," including Deerin's assertions that Hammond does not come to his Columbia office everyday.
"To be honest, I always thought when Mark said he was going to work, he was actually going to the office," Sanford said. "Seems I was scammed."
They talk about "Mark" wasting money and being awkward with technology.
Then Sanford asks, "We are talking about Mark Hammond, right?" before saying "I think it's time for an update in that office, too" and announcing that she is voting for Deerin.
