A South Carolina man fishing last week on Lake Moultrie caught a 136- pound blue catfish, the largest ever landed at the reservoir between Charleston and Columbia.
The catfish was 56 inches long.
Leland Selph of Cross caught the big catfish Feb. 8, according to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
Blue catfish are native to the Mississippi River area. They were introduced in South Carolina in 1965 and began to reproduce two years later, the DNR says. They are among the top sport fish in the Santee Cooper lakes.
