U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, a possible GOP vice presidential pick, will headline the S.C. GOP’s annual Silver Elephant fund-raising dinner, party leaders said Monday.
Cotton, who was elected to the Senate two years ago after a term in the U.S. House, met with 2016 Republican front-runner Donald Trump last week in Washington, D.C.
Cotton, a 39-year-old former Army captain who was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, is the latest GOP rising star to speak at the annual S.C. Republican fundraiser.
A pair of first-term U.S. senators, Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida, headlined the event ahead of their 2016 presidential runs.
The dinner is May 6 in Columbia. Tickets cost from $43 to $265 each.
