Civil War moments in S.C. -- Feb, 17-18, 1865

Fires rage through Columbia. Retreating Confederates set fire to the Charlotte Railroad Depot.

Other fires are Union arson. A third of town is burned, including more than 200 buildings and 265 homes. Damages are $544 million in today’s dollars.
