SC state senator Clementa Pinkney addressed his colleagues on the SC Senate floor to urge requiring police in the state to wear body cameras after the shooting death of Walter Scott. The N. Charleston policeman who shot the unarmed Scott said Scott was armed. A passerby videotaped the shooting which belied that accusation.
Thousands of protesters showed up Saturday night to bring down the Confederate Flag on the South Carolina State House grounds. The protest came in the wake of a shooting massacre in a Charleston African American church on June 17, 2015.
