COLUMBIA – Specialty Polymers, Inc., a privately held manufacturer of water-based emulsion polymers and adhesives, is expanding its Chester County operations.
The company is investing $5.5 million to increase the plant’s capacity by adding a 6,000-gallon emulsion polymer reactor system. The additional capacity is expected to create five new jobs.
Specialty Polymers was founded in 1969 in Salem, Ore. The company has more than 300 products.
Specialty Polymers broke ground on its Old Richburg Road plant in 1999, the company’s first East Coast facility. The company has invested more than $20 million at the Chester plant and employs about 50 people currently.
The firm gas more than 100,000 square feet of production space between its South Carolina and Oregon facilities.
